It contains all information about beaches, attractions, activities, transportation and all you need to know about exploring Rhodes island. We took the regular bus between Rhodos and Lindos and walked the three km from the highway down to Seven Springs. Using the GPS in my husband’s phone we then hiked 4 km through the forest to the Tsampika Monastery. The first bit was a bit of a scramble through dense forest, so it should not be attempted without a GPS. We connected to gravel paths and hiked up the back of the mountain just north of the monastery and were rewarded with amazing views of the bay below.

Our excursion begins in the village of Archangelos and continues through olive groves through vegetation growing denser and denser, with a great variety of plants. The whole “epta piges rhodos” area, with its abundance of springs, forms a refreshing little oasis. The path winds along beside the stream, past an old dam to the famous seven springs.
The lake was formerly used to irrigate the plains and forests of Colombia, is located in the middle of the forest and, like the paths around it, was built by the Italians in the 1930s. The waters of the stream and lake are home to turtles, eels, crabs and several rare species of fish called “Gizani”. First-time visitors would do well to undertake a walk down to the 1 km long tunnel, which leads to the shimmering lake. One is by walking on the road above the tunnel and the other is by walking through the dark tunnel. Seven Springs (Eptà Pigès, Επτά Πηγές) is a great place to escape from the heat of the summer and enjoy a magnificent natural scenery. Not for those with claustrophobia, but an exciting experience for all others.
Went last august 2011 really enjoyed it took over an hour on moped to find it but well worth it. Picturesque and a must is to walk through the tunnel.
